Chef & Owner
Chef David Kapay is the owner of Wodonga’s prestigious Miss Amelie restaurant.
While David started his apprenticeship locally, his culinary repertoire flourished after being given the opportunity to work under Jamie Oliver at the world famous Fifteen restaurant in London. He also lists Gordon Ramsay and Jason Atherton's Michelin-starred Maze restaurant on his resume. His fondness for his hometown however, drew him back to the Border to pursue his dream of opening his own restaurant.
David’s love for food and cooking is all about connection. From sourcing local produce to crafting masterpieces in the kitchen with his team, David strives for perfection in every dish he serves. He believes that good food brings people together, and in turn makes the world a better place.
How We Started
In the COVID19 riddled 2020, like many businesses Miss Amelie had to close. During this time David had a chance meeting with another local businessman Ken Little and Miss Amelie Gourmet was created.
In keeping with building stronger communities, 14 staff members were hired along with a host of trades people and local businesses. The Shed at Number 6 Michael Drive Wodonga was transformed into a world class facility, enabling Davids finest food to be created.
By August 2020 Miss Amelie Gourmet's vision of customers enjoying fine dining in the comfort of their own homes, became a reality.
Miss Amelie Gourmet was born out of the need to diversify and pivot in adverse situations. With the application of skills in a different direction coupled with the entrepreneurial flair of the Little and Myers families, the journey began.
